our story

- This is not just a regenerative break; this is an opportunity -

The Baston Hall vision

Imagine fields of tall billowing grass, gently swaying in the breeze, the flower of an oxe-eye daisy catches the sunlight light as it rises above the grass.
Deep in that sea of grass the delicate meadow flowers, herbs and legumes provide nectar for the noble bumblebee, busily working across the field...
A field vole scampers through the protection of the tall grass feeding on the abundance of seeds and plants. He's safe for now from the eyes of the kestrel hunting above, but representative of the active food chain essential to restore wildlife in our countryside.

Embrace nature and let it flourish

The deep roots of these protective meadow plants reach out connecting with the world below, forming symbiotic relationships with fungal networks. They harvest the sunlight and turn it to sugars that feed themselves and the soil microbiome under our feet. This food store is carbon being locked away and drawn down from the atmosphere above, making our contribution to reducing greenhouse gasses.

Working with our herd of native Aberdeen Angus cattle and a small flock of hardy native sheep, this harvested sunlight is partially grazed in a short but intensive day, before the cattle move on, simulating a passing herd of wild herbivores on migration.

The fields now fresh with rich manure, our free natural fertiliser, packed with microbes, beneficial bacteria and nutrients replenishes the ground feeding the worms, dung beetles and supercharging the multitude of soil life.

Now rest; pause, breathe and recover. The cattle pass so quickly that they do not deplete the plant’s reserves, instead they burst forth with fresh vigour, harvesting yet more sunlight, breathing more CO2 and turning it to carbon.
The cattle will not return for months, but their essential stimulating role enables the world of meadow life to continue; growing and flowering; providing food, habitat and protection.

Abundance in the food chain from the smallest insect to the largest predators, farming with nature at your core can provide for all.

Support Baston Hall

We want our guests to become partners, to join and support us on our regenerative journey, to know that their stay directly assists in the running of this agro-ecological farmland, enabling us to farm for nature, not just with nature.
Walking alongside us as we build soil and soil carbon through our grazing practices, to improve water infiltration and holding capacity through deep rooting active soils, and increasing biodiversity through rest, by letting flowers and grasses have a chance to fully grow and through this creating incredible habitat for wildlife.

Our ancient woodland

Part of our vision is to see our ancient semi-natural woodland edges push further into the fields, creating areas of woodland pasture, with a mixture of traditional orchard trees and specimen parkland trees. These will provide corridors of shelter, food and habitat.

Our hedges, recently laid in the traditional style will be allowed to grow to provide berries and nuts for wildlife. New hedges have been planted linking our woodlands to the neighbouring SSSI, and to provide wildlife corridors, shade, shelter and food for all.

"Had the most amazing stay at Baston Hall with 19 family members. The hosts Rosanna and Ian catered to our every need and were on hand to answer any questions we had - whether about the house or farm life in general! The house was spectacular with amazing furnishings and it felt both luxurious and comfortable at the same time. The surroundings were picture perfect and we enjoyed taking a walk to the pub and admiring the views on the way. We would truly recommend this house to anyone looking to spend quality time with family or friends."

"Just retuned from a four day stay at Baston Hall to celebrate my wife’s birthday with the rest of our family.
Wow! What a fantastic place and such a great setting. We literally did not leave the estate from the time we arrived.......why would you!?
The main house and annex are decorated to the highest standard and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The decor is just stunning and the beds were heaven!
The grounds were beautiful and we had full use of the lake; tennis court; table tennis and fields.
On one evening we hired in a private chef as recommended by Rosanna and Ian and again, this surpassed all expectations.....a truly amazing experience and top top food!
We are already thinking about when we can next visit this gem of a place, up there with some of the best places we have stayed in around the world!"

"We just returned from a family holiday here and wow, what an amazing place, like something out of a dream. The house itself is really something special; the bedrooms and other spaces are all top notch.
Outside the 'estate' is huge and you are free to roam with the sheep and ducks! There are tennis courts, a lake with rowing boat and paddle board, areas to just chill and read with a glass of vino and great places for an outside BBQ.
If you want to escape to the pub (like me), there is a beautiful walk along the Worcester way to a lovely little local that sells great beer and food.
Anyway back to the review! Rosanna and team are great hosts that are on hand for anything you could need, we also had a very special dinner one evening hosted by a chef and company who came and did everything for us even the washing up.
So, if you want somewhere to retreat to with some good friends and/or family then you have found it!
It would be amazing to come back here some day in the future."

"We stayed at Baston Hall over the weekend with a group of friends and had an absolutely lovely time. We never left the property as it has so much to offer - paddle boards, row boat, footpaths all around the properly, lawn games, you name it! Rosanna and her husband were super hosts who set us up with everything we needed upon arrival and was available throughout the weekend for any questions."

"From the very first conversation with Rosanna, i knew that Baston Hall was somewhere a little more special than your usual country retreats.
Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, every item of furniture and every room decoration has been done the absolute highest standard- it was a pleasure to stay here.
Rosanna was so incredibly helpful, from recommending a private chef to showcasing the properties amazing farm walks- I really could not have been happier with how the weekend went.
We stayed as a group of 17, which in most cases you would find someone drew the short straw- however every room contains a superking bed and the house is more than able to accommodate that many people.
I will stay here again- i have no doubt about it!
Thank you again to Ian & Rosanna for a lovely weekend."

"We had a fantastic stay at Baston Hall - 16 of us aged from 8 months to 87 years ! A family get together which we try to do each year but our first stay at Baston Hall. Rosanna and Iain have created a wonderful luxurious Elizabethan country home which we felt totally spoilt to stay in. set in the most beautiful countryside it has a lake on its doorstep with a rowing boat and paddle boards to use. The main house with 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, snug, dining room and huge lounge each has its own charm. The stable block close by has 3 further bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all of these were absolutely stunning. It’s obvious that Rosanna has impeccable taste, and each rooms furnishings individually thought through, with hand painted walls, and the most delightful fabrics, her attention to detail can be seen throughout.
We found Rosanna and Iain attentive when needed, giving us a wonderful family funfilled break away which was totally relaxed. Thank you for such a lovely family long weekend."

"What a wonderful find!
Having had to reschedule due to unexpected circumstances, our family’s spring break last weekend was idyllic.
New calves, ducklings and fresh eggs, one could not ask for more but, paddle boarding, tennis, boules, ping pong and giant jenga kept us all busy. The house was sumptuous with everything our party of 17, ranging from 4 to 80, could want.
Thank you to our hosts for your warm welcome. I hope you have an abundance of delighted guest at Baston Hall."
